Q: I'm interested in joining, but I don't have a partner. Do you require that members are partnered?
A: No. This club is for all members, both singles and couples. Because of the partner inbalance we are teaching in the form of line dancing then converting it to a choreographed ballroom style.
Q: I've had some experience in dancing but it's been a long time and have forgotten much that I have learned.
A: The LOP Sliders is for all levels of dancers from beginners to advanced. We encourage the skilled to teach the unskilled.
Q: How often do you meet?
A: The club meetings are set every Monday evening at 8:00 pm.
The actual dates that we meet are based on availability of the clubhouse. Even if we have a date pre-scheduled for practice, a revenue event would have priority.
Q: Do you have any formal classes?
A: Formal classes are available at the DeWitt Center in Auburn at the Senior Center every Tuesday. Each month presents a new style.
Q: Are there any dues?
A: The club presently charges $1.00 per person per session effective April, 2009.
Q: What is the cost for formal lessons?
A: The cost is imposed by the instructor(s) at the DeWitt Center. See the sub menues under the navigational bar "Lesson Venues" for cost and schedule.
Q: What styles of dance do you practice and/or learn?
A: The club practice sessions practice whatever the attending participants request. We have covered the Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha and Tango and anything else we can learn and teach.
Q: What type of music do you have.
A: We are currently using a portable sound system with programmable options.
Q: Do you ever have formal dances?
A: This club is open to all members of Lake of the Pines and their guests. It is the club's intention to have an LOP Association Dinner/dance at least once a month. Dress is casual "but not too casual"
Q: Does the club have professional teachers?
A: Although Barry Connick has taught at Arthur Murray Dance Studios and is currently teaching at In Synce Dance Studios in Auburn, I do not consider any of us "professionals". We teach what we know.
